I ended the year on a high note, having the best week with my children, friends, boyfriend, and family. I had a wonderful two weeks off.
So now, instead of looking back at 2011, I'm choosing to look forward. 2012 already promises to be so much better than its predecessor. It shouldn't be one of major life changes (Dear Lord, please don't let it be another year of major life changes). Hopefully, it will bring some more stability in my life.
Here are a few things I'm looking forward to in 2012--
- 80's movies theme joint birthday party at my house for me and my friend Chris. Chris and I connected instantly and bonded over divorce. He's like my brother now and I'm grateful for the fun we have together. I was very fortunate to make some new friendships last year that I hope to continue to build and strengthen.
- Spending more time with MM just the two of us. I love our time together. We are silly and fun and love to go out, but we have quiet, easy nights together too. I'm in bed right now blogging from his laptop while he is next to me watching the Cowboys game. Not much more I need.
- Spending time with MM and our kids. He met Maggie last Wednesday. It could NOT have gone better. Maggie has happily accepted MM's place in our life and now calls him by the nickname Katie gave him, Ha. I will meet his two girls next month most likely. Four girls, ranging from age 2 to 14, are a lot but we're both excited about the times we will have ahead of us.
- Watching Tracey marry her love. Tracey is engaged! After what is undeniably a really terrible end to her marriage, Tracey has found love and happiness. She and M are getting married in May and I could not be happier for the two of them. First up, we shop for her wedding dress in a few weeks!
- Returning to Europe with students in June. I was pregnant with Allie in 2003 the last time I took 8th graders to France. Just a few days after the school year ends, we board the plane with twenty students between my school and another in the district. I can't wait to watch as students experience Paris for the first time. I love seeing their faces light up when they see the Eiffel Tower for the first time or helping them get over their fear of ordering a meal in French.
- Finishing my first year of teaching. It will feel SO good to have one year under my belt. To know the full curriculum for the entire year and not feel like I'm barely ahead of the game. I can't wait to feel like I actually know what the heck I'm doing!
Happy New Year everyone. May 2012 bring you happiness, love, and plenty of laughter.

A friend of mine sent me the link to your blog because of a recent event in my life. All I can say is thank you for blogging about your experiences. It helps to see that things can get better. I can only hope to be even 1/2 as brave as you have been in the last year. I wish you a happy 2012!
Hello friend! I am excited to see you move with excitement into 2012!! I know there are great things ahead. I wish you and MM the best and know y'all will have a blast with 4 girls. My boyfriend and I have 4 girls between us and life is never dull! We are getting married this year, so 2012 looks good for me as well. Take care and know that you have so many people hoping that this is your year! :)
So excited to see your expectations for 2012. You are such an inspiration. I could not be any happier for you and the girls!!
