Back on the wagon

Dieting was tough this month. Real tough. When the month began, I weighed in at 155. I've been anywhere from 155 to 160 this month, with that last number when I returned Saturday night from Memphis. I'm around 157 now. It's time to focus. Time to get back on track. I need to start working out again. Debbie is doing the 30 Day Shred by Jillian Micheals and swears by it. Truth be told, it scares the crap out of me!!

What are you doing for exercise? Help a gal out--what's working for you?

Hey Jenny!!

Great job on the refocus. I need the same kick too.

My workouts ususally consist of Wii Fit workouts, alternating with lots of walking, and working my way back up to a 3.2 mile run. I need to put more weights back in, but have not really.

Can't wait to see what works for others too!

Thanks for updating Jenny. Your focus is an inspiration!

I'd be scared of the Jillian Michaels workout too... I watch The Biggest Loser and i see how she kills them every week....

Right now I'm just really watching portions, and walking every day. the weight is slowly coming off. I notice I do better when I plan out my meals, otherwise it's too easy to get hungry and grab something unhealthy.

I struggle with exercise. I always have. I try to sneak in activity. I take the stairs, I park at the end of the lot, I walk my kids to and from school when I can.

I just started the 30 day shred b/c of Debbie. I've done 2 days. I thought I was going to die after the 1st day but day 2 was much better! It's not that bad and it's only 20 minutes. You can do anything for 20 minutes! :)

I was doing the elliptical and getting outside and walking when I can. I want to start running again but have to build up to that.

Good job on committing to re-focus. I'm doing that too. :)

I'm doing the 30 day shred along with Debbie (she encouraged me also) its not really that bad, the actual workout, but watch out, your 1st few days, you'll be so sore you think you can't move, which is great, means its working! I love it, and the fact its only for 20 min. bonus! Good luck, its never ending isn't it?

I'm doing Shred because I need something I can do for only 20 minutes in my house at 5:30am. Otherwise I truly cannot find the time, since I don't stop again until aroound 10pm every day.

It hurts like a mofo though.

I swear by the Wii Fit...and find that its something I actually enjoy and can do with my kids. I just completed a corporate health challenge at work through the Virgin Healthmiles program and out of 400 or so people that participated, I tied with 3 others for first place! If you knew me, you would know that this is not the "norm" for me. I don't like to exercise and until this program, I pretty much didn't do it. I gathered almost all of my daily "healthmiles" (as measured by the pedometer they provide & have you upload data to their website through)by doing the Wii Fit for 60-90 minutes each day. I lost a few pounds but that's better than gaining and I feel tons better.

I agree...that 30 Day Shred that Debbie is doing scares the crap out of me, too! But more power to her for trying it and sticking to it!!!

Another shred lover here! I got it for my b-day at the beginning of March, but haven't been too faithful with it. After the first day (which I didn't make it through) I couldn't walk for 2 days--but I skipped the cool down. Oops. After that, it wasn't as bad. Now I'm trying each level for 10 days (with a day or two of rest) and today will be day 2 of level 2. I love that in 20 min you get cardio, strength and some ab toning. I also do the treadmill. Even though I've stalled with my weight loss, I've noticed a differece in clothes.

Counting calories and circuit training. Basically 45 min. of squats, lunges, pushups, dips, and crunches. Use weights if you can. After a few months I started building muscle and now I'm having trouble keeping weight on. Seriously...it took about 6 months of very very slow weight loss. But once it started coming off, it hasn't stopped.

hmmm...commented on Debbie's site that my friend BOUGHT it for me, and i took the wrapping off! I came home last week to no air conditioning and picked that evening to start it. Bad idea. I lasted 5 minutes.
I keep thinking about actually starting it, but my thoughts have been wandering........
Good for you for staying within 5 pounds of your weight, even with all that stress! You look fabulous, you are fabulous, and you'll accomplish everything you set your mind to!

Actually the 30 Day Shred is pretty simple. It'll make you INCREDIBLY sore for days and days (a good sore though), but it only takes 25 min. out of your day and it REALLY WORKS!! I'm a long time follower...rarely leave comments though...but honestly, you look beautiful as you are :-)!!

SHRED here too and have lost so much weight from it. You are sore...but man does it work for only 25 mins!

I have the shred, but I've yet to open it. I will start it on Monday once I return from a mini-vacay with the kiddos. No since in starting it now b/c we're leaving tomorrow. I'm hoping to do it for two months, and we'll see what happens. I'd love to see the "lose 20 lbs in 30 days" work on me...we'll see. :)

Hi Jenny! Debbie got me on the Shred too, and it WORKS! It is scary, and you feel like you're going to die the first few days, but you will be amazed at how fast you see results. I lost 2 inches off my muffin top by morning 8. I swear by it now, and have recruited a dozen other people to try it. My hubby is even now adding it to his gym routine. Try it!!! You'll be amazed at how quickly your body changes and tones up.

Wow--so many people doing the Shred!! I'm skeered of it!! When MinivanMom says it "hurts like a mofo" that makes me nervous--she's one tough chick.

Whimper. Think I'll have to try it

Rebecca said...

I love the 30 shred too!! It works. I lost 7 pounds between Thanksgiving and Christmas doing it!! Give it a try.

Stacy said...

Haha! Don't be skeered! (Actually, trying to get my parents to do it and they WATCHED it and said they were skeered too!). Trust me when I say Day 3 you will HATE life (and Debbie, and anyone else who suggested it) but come Day 4 you will feel much better! With every day your endurance builds and you'll notice the results. Actually, EVERYONE will notice results. I've had numerous comments from coworkers! It's worth it! I promise! You can do it!!! ~Stacy

30 day shred is great. I need to buy it. I was doing it with comcast on demand, but I no longer have comcast. I love all Jillian's workouts. They kill though but isn't that the point. No pain no gain...I also love the Turbo Jam workouts. They are fun and Chalene is not as scary as Jillian. ;)

I'm a pilates girl...and we also have an elliptical that I 'try' to get on at least 3x a week (try being the operative word lol).

I also do stairs at work...down 16 up 9...it takes about 10 minutes. I've been walking on my lunch hour too...now that the weather is nicer.

Shredding here too. I was pretty sore the first couple of days but after that it got much easier. I'm not doing it everyday because I'm also doing the Couch to 5K program. I have done 10 days of level 1 of the shred and will start level 2 tomorrow. The scale has not changed but my clothes are starting to fit a lot better. Give it a try.

Activity-wise, I'm doing more of what I've been doing for a long time. I'm a bellydancer and I know there are classes you can join in TX that will kick your butt but you'll have a ton of fun doing it. Definitely helped my self esteem and is working muscles I never knew I had.

I also do my Wii Fit and I have this other game called Active Life Outdoor Challenge that has exercises on it that I do.

I'm all about tricking myself into thinking that I'm not really working out and that it's a game! :)

Join the gym. I know you are a very busy girl, but if you arent a member of a gym....join one. To me, it is THE ONLY WAY of keeping consistent. Yes a video may work for a while, but long term, the gym is better, IMO.

I am at Cooper and I LOVE IT!!

Jessica said...

Oh, and PS. I have the Shred too, and it is good. But gym is better. ;)

Doing the 30 day shred. Don't let it scare you....if you can train for a marathon you can handle Jillian. She's not that scary! :)
I havent' been seeing the results that others swear by though. My stamina has improved, and I feel better...but no real weight loss or changes in how I look.

Hey, have you thought about downloading one of those "Couch to 5K" learning to run programs for your iPod? My husband, who is a big guy and never ran before in his life, recently joined a real-life group that follows one of these programs and I have to admit that I've been taken by surprise by how much he's enjoying it. I mean, he can't wait to go run and that's something I never, ever thought I'd ever be able to write.

I have cut out all sugar, and flour (including wheat flour) and I have lostover 10 pounds since January.
I focus on protein, grains, fruit and veggies.
Also, no snacking inbetween meals. (And no eating off my kids plates either!)
Good luck!
