Baby Drew?

I'm not pregnant. Not yet. And this fact? Seriously disappoints Maggie. She talks about being a big sister every day. How other friends have siblings they play with. How she has a sister but doesn't with her. How she ONLY wants a BROTHER. Baby Drew, she is already calling him.

Yesterday, when I walked into her preschool to pick her up, she enthusiastically ran to me. I leaned down thinking she was going to tell me about day. Instead, she threw me off with, "I will be the big sister when Baby Drew is here!!" Well, ok.

About a week ago, she began talking to me about babies. When she gets on this topic, I often just ask a few questions or remain silent to listen to what she has to say. The subject came about because her friend from playgroup is going to have a baby sister. The conversation went something like this...

Maggie: "Well, I already habe a baby sistah."
Me: "Yes, you do."
Maggie: "And her name is Allie. She in Heaben. She had kemia, it very bad."
Me: "That's right. We don't like leukemia and we miss having Allie here with us."
Maggie: "Oh, and Mama! You going to habe a baby in your tummy and he going to be Baby Drew!:
Me: "Oh really?"
Maggie: "Oh yes, and he's going to be my baby brother. I will lub him and then he will go to HEABEN!"
Me: "No, honey, if we have another baby, he or she will not go to Heaven. Just Allie did."
Maggie: "No, my babies go to Heaben."

Sweet little girl.

How sweet!

Sometimes kids have a way of knowing things. My first son patted on my tummy one Saturday in August in summer of 07. I asked him if he knew something we didn't. A week later I found out I was pregnant. My neighbors had something similar happen to them--their oldest told people they were pregnant with #3 and they had no idea--come to find out yep they were expecting #3. So maybe Maggie knows something you don't quite yet? :) Here's hoping!

Aww Maggie is so sweet! I also had my older kids make comments about a baby being in my tummy before I actually knew. Strange how that works sometimes.

When Hollieann was 2.5 she went around telling everyone that I was pregnant with her sister. I had no idea and said I wasn't pregnant. 1 week later, I took a test and sure enough I was pregnant, and we had a girl. It is weird the things kids know sometimes. She is precious.

My oldest looked at me and told me that I was having 2 babies. Yep, twins. Then he told us that the two babies were boys, yep...boys.

Sometimes they just know!
