But, of course, we hit the downside--the germs! In the last two weeks, Maggie has had pink eye, a green runny nose and cough, and a stomach bug! She was up vomiting from midnight--5am at my mom's house during her sleepover (poor "GaGa!"). Oh joy. And now, I have the same stomach bug!! Yuck.
Ah, the joys of childcare!

Been there, done that...3 times.
The upside is that they have stellar immune systems by the time they start elementary school. Bailey did not miss a single day of kindergarten, and only 1 of 1st grade. Many of his friends who were not in daycare from early on caught several nasty bugs going around.
It gets better each year, I swear. But yeah...the first year in daycare sucks.
We had the same problem with our 1st son. He caught everything the 1st 6 months. I was at the point I asked the ped if I needed to remove him, and he assured me it gets better and he would have a great immune system out of it. Sure enough after the 1st year, he was soo much better and is rarely sick now.
Yep, if you can make it through to Christmas, she will actually benefit from feeling miserable. It just doesn't sound right does it? But it is so true.
Hiii!!
I have a almost 4 year old daughter, and the same happen to me with her the first time she enter daycare. Let me tell you.. this will happen forever =) it seems she always have a cough, runny nose, strep, but for the joy of school is worthy.

I hope you are feeing better! And like another person said she will have a great immune system come kindergarten!!
I know that is what I tell myself since we have seen the dr 5 times in 2 weeks and my boys have both been in daycare since 8 weeks old!
just sharing...my son went thru the same thing when he first started childcare and later kintergarten...we invested in quite an amount of money in the health store to get alot of vitamin (multivits, vitamin C, etc.) and minerals to hopefully...up his immune system, seems to help a little...hang in there...
hope all get well soon...take care!!
I was going to say what Tracey did! The upside is down the road!!
Sorry you are feeling sick. I am in a workshop this week and one of the teachers had it. I am sure it will soon strick most of us!
Unfortunately it's unavoidable!! I'm about to dive back in with BJ since he'll be going to preschool a couple of days a week in the fall! Oh the joys of runny noses and pink eye!!
OH man, that is hard!
My girls start school tomorrow! This will be Anna's first year in grade school, not looking forward to this with an immune suppressed child! It was hard enough with my oldest bringing home germs!
Sorry you got sick.
When my oldest was a wee one like Maggie we put her in daycare. For the first year she was in there this happened constantly. After a year they couldnt get her moved up to the new class due to no space and they had a bunch of biters in the room. We decided to take her out of daycare for the time being. We had her out for about 4 mos and then put her back into the same one and pretty much since then she has never been sick. She has a GREAT immune system. Ever couple of years she might get the stomach bug but she is now 12. My other kids who were not in daycare like her have had the worst time adjusting.
