Buy Cookie Dough, Help Children

I got the sweetest phone call this afternoon. Debbie passed the phone to her daughter (my beautiful, sweet, sensitive goddaughter--love her!!) who excitedly tells me...

"Aunt Jenny, my school is doing a fundraiser and selling cookie dough. If we sell 100 things of cookie dough, we get a prize! We can get either portable DVD player or $100."

Um, okay. And then she hit me and had me in tears.

"I'm going to get the $100 and give it to Heroes for Children!"

This coming from an eight year old third grader. Oh, I'm so proud!! She chose this on her own. No one told her to donate, she just knew that it would make a difference and be something special.

So, if you would like to help children this year, please consider buying cookie dough from the girl! E-mail me at jscott@heroesforchildren.org (local only please--it is frozen cookie dough!) and we'll get you hooked up!!

That smurfy little cat. I heard that on the way outta car pool and almost cried. I am a guy after all so tears are reserved for Ol' Yeller and Longhorn losses...but I did promise her a "significant reward" if she reaches her HFC goal. I guess my peeps at work See:http://nicolaslegacy.com/Concept.htm
will be buying cookies for the next month.

Oh, my heart swells with pride for Debbie and Brandon!

If I could get the dough back to Austin without it de-freezing, I would certainly buy some.

I'd like to think that Bailey would be that altruistic, but I know better. He would be too thrilled with the potential DVD player. But he is excited to come and do Miss Jenny's walk to help kids with cancer! (although not so much Dallas, where he is convinced that a finger tornado will come down and smite us).

She makes my soul smile! WHat a precious girl she is!! I wish I lived there! I want some! I live in VA though so I think it would be cookie mush by the time I got it! =] I think I will just donate to HFC in "girl's" name - just as good, right?! =] Can you tell her I'm proud of her? I think she is a very kindhearted young lady...

in the meantime-not that you're not busy...

but, you're it :)

I have no idea who Debbie is, since I'm an anonymous internet lurker, but Debbie should be darn proud. She is doing something right!

Instilling the spirit of giving in our children is one of the best thing you can do during our short lives on Earth.

Thank you for sharing.
