A Good Allie Day

All in all, it was a good Allie Day. I worked half the day, and even managed to get a blog entry written. Maggie chose to have a bit of a meltdown during lunch with our good friend John (his 30th birthday today!! Happy Birthday, John--we love you VERY much!!), so we chose not to go to the Arboretum (it was also drizzling a bit). We came home for a snuggling naptime and then went to the Wiggly Playcenter for fun for the three of us. The day ended with dinner at Maggianno's with our parents and Debbie and her kids. Of course, lots of work to do for HFC with the 5K coming up too. I'm tired and mentally exhausted, but I am satisfied with the day.

If you haven't registered for the 5K yet, you can walk up on race day and register. Online registration is now closed, but you are very welcome on race day! We anticipate more than 1,000 participants (already have 850 registered--woohoo!!). Please join us for a great morning for, what I believe, a great cause.

Jenny, I've been following your blog since a few months before Allie earned her wings, and I was thinking of you and your girls yesterday. In fact, while my own son (about 6 months younger than Maggie) had a huge meltdown, I was hoping that Maggie didn't do the same for you on Allie Day. Nothing like a toddler meltdown though to keep you focused and in the moment. I'm so glad to hear that overall it was a good day for you.

Blessings and all the best to you!

I'm so glad you had a good Allie day! Hope you have a wonderful 5K and you end up with more participants that hoped!!! I did a 5K Mothers Day weekend in honor of a little boy who passed away from cancer, and ended up getting on the bone marrow registry!

So glad you had a peaceful day! I thought of you and Allie many times yesterday, and reminded my students to sign up for our local Light the Night walk. We may be Friends of Heroes to the world, but in my heart, I walk for Allie. Hugs to you!

I just stumbled upon your blog. I have a good friend who lost her son to cancer. God Bless you and the good work you continue to do to honor your beautiful daughter.

Jenny, I just got back from volunteering at your 5K -- my second year. I actually reside in Kansas, but make a special trip for the 5K. I followed Allie's story for many months, and as others have said, she changed my life.

Along with volunteering, I now follow many children via Caringbridge. I am a registered bone marrow donor, and I will participate in the LTN Walk next week in Wichita. Why? All because of Allie...one innocent little girl that changed the lives of many. A little girl that will always hold a special place in my heart.

Thank you for sharing Allie's story. See you at the 5K next year.
