Goodbye Twenties

When I rolled over at 7:30 this morning to a two year old requesting Wiggles and yogurt, I realized that my twenties are gone. Over. I'm 30.

The HFC girls are the BEST!! When I pulled into the office this morning, I noticed that everyone was already there. Megan's car was already there too. Strange--she usually drops off her son and then comes around 9:15am when she volunteers on Thursday. But it was only 8:50?? I was clued in pretty quickly to what was going on. "Happy 30th Birthday" is across the wall in a banner, along with hanging streamers, and cute banner Cheryl made, and and balloons in my office. Plus, Megan made peanut brownie cupcakes!! That's a way to my heart right there. Delicious!!

And of course because our group has gotten into pictures of all of us with food, here's my birthday cupcakes--missing the rest of the girls! Tracey--that's specifically for you!

I'm being spoiled over the next few days. Our family is doing dinner tonight to celebrate both mine and Andrew's birthday (since he had a not so fun one with the sick wife!) at my old place of business. Tomorrow is birthday lunch with the HFC girls to celebrate both my birthday and our Business Manager Cricket's. Cricket told me to pick--I couldn't resist. It's been a long time since Larissa and I have scrapped the plate of an ahi tuna tower at Blue Fish. Yum!! Then it is a game night with the Kriegers to make up for missing on Andrew's birthday. Finally, the "Posse" is heading out for a girl's night out dinner Sunday night. Seriously? I'm going to be stuffed!!

So much for starting the diet this week--maybe next week. I at least have a personal training session set up for next week. That's a start, right? Of course, I had it set for last week too but didn't make it. That damn flu.

You know, I took the end of my twenties pretty well. I'm ok with it. I've had good and bad times, but there have been some amazing times along the way. I married the greatest man who I love more than than I did at 20. I've given birth to two beautiful little girls. I had a career in education that I love and found a new career that I love just as much.

So, today, as I look back on my twenties, I have few complaints (can't say none because of course, I do wish I had my Allie. I will always wish that!). I'm happy. I love my life, love my family and friends, and love my husband. And I am excited to begin another chapter in my life.

Okay, I want you to know that I sent you that e-mail BEFORE I came here and saw this - I remembered without a blog reminder! :)

Sending you giant birthday hugs and good wishes, and it should be "Posse minus 1" on Sunday night. :( You can't have the full posse without me, right? Right?

Happy birthday, Jenny!

I usually tell whippersnappers such as yourself that when you hit 30, you gain instant credibility... but, well, you've already got that stuff in spades.

So I'll wish you every other marvelous thing about this fabulous decade! (And no, I'm not even being slightly facetious. The thirties actually do rock.)

Big love to you...
Amy

P.S. LOVE the cupcake picture. Y'all look too cute!

Happy Birthday!
I was struck when I first read of Allie's story in the DMN when she was in the hospital, of some similarities. My daughter Jennifer is only 3 days older than you are and their Aly was born 2 months after yours. I just got back from spending the weekend with my baby who was 30 on Sunday. I hope your 30's are bright and beautiful and filled with love & laughter!
