Cousin visit is DA BOMB

This visit can be summed up with three words--ICE CREAM BOMB. The post below shows the picture of Amie, in her birthday glory, checking out her slice. So, the bomb--layers of ice cream, chocolate, brownie, magic shell, yummy delicious goodness in the shape of a bullet (because it froze over night in the Kitchen Aid mixer and was then flipped). Bomb was so good we were dreaming about it. We were giddy. The kids went into that sugar coma. You know the one. And then they bounced off the walls.

We have tonight and tomorrow until lunchtime to soak up our cousin time (and maybe sneak in another piece of the Bomb) before we head back home. I have a business trip to Houston first thing Thursday morning, so I want to be home in time for a little rest. Luckily, the cousins will reunite in August for our first family vacation. It's going to be a blast!

Here are some pictures of our visit. Maggie got her very first haircut tonight! Just a trim--more to get off the long top layers and even out her curls. Aunt Amie, our Jack (or should I say Jill) of all Trades, cut it!

Max entertaining Maggie during her haircut. That's what cousins are for.
Izzy, Amie, and Maggie after her first cut.
Proud of her hair. She looks SO much like how Izzy did at this age.

Getting a little loving from the Wild Man Max.

Chilling out tonight for movie watching and popcorn. Today, we went to the library, swam at the pool, played games, and of course, ate the Bomb. It's time to relax.

I always love time with my beautiful niece Izzy.

Yay for haircuts! What a big milestone - I loved that you saved some locks in a bag (my mom did that, too.) Have a safe drive home!

Heather--it's in the July issue of Martha Stewart magazine (I bet you can find it online). There, it is called the Banana Split Bomb, but we altered it with different ice cream and brownies instead of cake. This morning, we've been inventing other bombs--4th of July bomb with blueberries, strawberries, and white chocolate, Snickers or M&M bombs, etc. Amie says its important to follow the instructions exactly. Alter it with the types of ice cream or cake, etc, but follow the other steps explicitly. And enjoy!!

Jenny, I have been following your blog/journaling since Allie was diagnosed, and have done light the night a few times in her memory. This year, I am also doing Team in Training, and training for the Nike Women's Marathon as well. I wanted to make sure it was okay with you, but I want to have Allie be our honored team mate on a Saturday morning run. If you are interested in my fundraising website, it is http://pages.teamintraining.org/nfl/nikesf08/jhartford . Fundraising is tough ( and so is the running in the hot Florida sun, but every time I am out there, I am thinking of your sweet baby. The picture I have of her up on my site, is one that you had given permission to use when we did the Light the Night the first year. If you would prefer it not be there, I totally would understand.
