Weekend with the Robinsons

After incessantly asking about "Pincess Lucy" to view her pictures on the computer and look like her as a princess, Maggie finally got to have a real life playdate with Lucy! This weekend, the Scotts headed to Austin for a visit with the Robinsons. We had a great time! Lucy was a reluctant princess at first to share her throne with another princess. But that didn't stop the sheer adoration from Maggie. She followed Lucy around like a lost puppy dog, wanting to do every little thing Lucy did. It wasn't long before Lucy warmed up and held Maggie's hand all the way to the park. And that was all it took for Maggie's girl crush to escalate to a new level.

We had such a great time with the Robinsons. We played Wii with the boys, the grown up boys kicked our butts (sorry, Tracey, I wasn't the best partner) in Trivial Pursuit, and we tried out a new fun game. We laughed, we talked, we bowled.

A few lessons learned from the weekend:

  • Sam Robinson is intense at boxing. And he's got some smooth moves too.
  • Tracey likes rules. Lots of them.
  • You can't recycle a Pace Picante glass jar. Much to the dismay of tree hugging recylcists out there, it is just not done in Round Rock, TX.
  • There is New Jersey style pizza in Texas. And it's good.
  • Some 2 year olds giggle hysterically when a large Goldendoodle sits on them to lick them from head to toe. Some two year olds try to get said Goldendoodle to do it more than once.
  • Beavis and Butthead were the first to deep fry a rat on television.
  • Andrew and Tracey have the same ironic, sarcastic, smartass sense of humor.
  • There is no accordian in a piano trio.
  • When in doubt for a baseball question--remember--Pete Rose and the Reds. Always Pete Rose.
  • There are crocodiles in Africa. Really. Trivial Pursuit doesn't lie people.
  • A proper stocking should always include either pistachios or jelly beans (especially when the recipient doesn't like jelly beans).
  • It sucks when your child wakes you up at five am and won't go back to bed. Really, really sucks.
  • If you wear out a toddler enough, she will sleep from the moment you get into the car to the moment you pull into the driveway more than three hours later.

And our most important lesson for the weekend has to be

  • Hiroshima, 1945 was indeed--ackward.

Thanks Robinsons for a really great weekend. Our house is here in Dallas anytime the clan wants to have a bowling tournament. My deepest apologies to my elderly and wise Trivial Pursuit partner. We'll do couples next time and you can kick my butt. I promise.

GNASHING MY TEETH that we weren't there, but absolutely loving that y'all had such a wonderful visit.

And seriously, but seriously, you two: wondering just what in the heck is up with Hiroshima?

New posse rule: there are to be no inside jokes, people! Just pictures of cake! Got it?

Perfect recap of a perfect weekend. Well, except for the 4:30am wakeup call for you. And that humiliating defeat at Trivial Pursuit.

But on the positive, we DO know how to sing India's national anthem.

So fun. Love you guys!

Ahhh...the memories. It was fun having you, but my shoulder is still hurting. I might have to redevelop my bowling move before I tear something.

Looking forward to the next time.

Stacey - Saccones. There are a few locations around North Austin/Round Rock. You are going to be disappointed with pizza in Texas after New Jersey, but Saccones is the best we have found in north Austin (the owner/founder is from New Jersey). There's other places in central/South Austin that are supposed to be good.

Feel free to e-mail me at tracey.robinson@gmail.com if you need any other recommendations or questions! :)
