Old habits are hard to break

It doesn't take much for me. I don't have an extreme amount of self control. I give in to the Easter candy. I talk myself into allowing an extra serving of rice. I eat Mexican food. Twice. I eat some Italian food. And I allow the excuse of being extremely busy with two major fundraising events in a time frame of nine days deter me from getting to the gym. And what happens?

I gain three pounds. Simple math, right? But yet why was I so surprise to step on the scale with the trainer tonight to see that my weight is almost exactly where it was three weeks ago. No progress but a step in the wrong direction. And why was I suprised that the trainer chose tonight to kick my ass in training? Shouldn't she? Don't I need a decent ass kicking to kick myself back in gear?

Indeed I did need it.

And now every muscle in my body is pleading with me to not forget this simple math again. Just because Heroes and Handbags Dallas is this Friday is not an excuse to eat whatever I want and neglect my diet. Just because I'm stress doesn't mean I can't find a better alternative to the Easter candy I so love (seriously--why did that damn Easter bunny think Reese's peanut butter cups were a good idea for this little one??).

Don't you wish that broccoli tasted as good as chocolate? Or that boiled chicken magically tasted as yummy and delicious as fried? I dream about it. Sadly, it has yet to happen.

And so, I return to the diet. Becuase only a little over a week of cheating and I've gained three pounds. Must get a handle of this before it begins to multiply into six and then nine. It does have a tendency to do that.

Jenny- I always fear the day Reese's figures out there are more holidays than Valentine's Day, Easter, Halloween & Christmas. My waistline is dreading the day they come out with one for every month of the year.

January- "New Year" stamped
February- Hearts
March- Shamrocks
April-Raindrops
May-Flowers or ones with "MOM" printed on it.
June-Printed "Dad" or Flip-flops
July-Firecrackers
August-Air Conditioner shaped
September- School bus
October- Pumpkins
November- Turkey
December- Tree

Lord help us Peanut Butter lovers!!

Well... let's look at the bright side. The ass-kicking exercise tonight totally absolves you of the guilt trip.

However, I'm really not in a position to dispense advice. I thought I'd found a dress for Friday, but when I tried it on at home, it didn't fit. At all.

And now I'm drowning my sorrows in popcorn. Which is SO NOT HELPING ANYTHING.

I guess it could be worse. I could be bingeing on Reese's peanut butter back-to-school buses...

Anyhoo. You slipped. It happens. You're back on track. That doesn't always happen. I'm incredibly proud of you!

The weight loss and exercise stuff really sucks for those of us who are food lovers. One day I hope to be that girl who doesn't dream about food all day. I've been back looking out for myself for the past six weeks but I've been lacking in the exercise department. I miss my food.

Lifestyle changes I'm calling it. If I tell myself I'm dieting I just might binge on those Easter candies myself. I really want to! :)

Kinda makes me feel guilty for eating these pop tarts while reading the blog.......kinda. Just finished them. Not quite worth it. Does it help that they're whole grain? Probably not. Jenny- the important thing is that you are still going, and still trying!!! You go, girlie!

Jenny,

All I can say is it is not easy. I also have a bodybugg, and this is one of the hardest lifestyle changes I have ever made.

I love food! It consumes me. I think about it all the time. I think about what I am going to eat at my next meal when I am finishing my current meal. I wonder if that will ever change? I doubt it.

But, the bodybugg is great. I love it. I have had mine for a month. And, it has really opened up my eyes to things. I had no idea that everything had so many calories! I have tried many many diets before, but I have never counted calories. So, this is a whole new way of living for me.

It is so easy to slip up. You are only human. I have done it, too. But, what is important, is the fact that you realize what you have done, and got right back on track.

I heard on the biggest loser a few weeks ago the trainer say that the contestants are allowed a cheat every every weigh in. This way, they won't be so tempted to cheat during the week. I thought this sounded pretty smart.

Keep up the good work!

I ate an entire freakin' bag of easter reese's eggs last month. They are the work of the devil. Three days of counting Weight Watchers points so far, though, so I'm back on track... but some evil person just stuck two boxes of Thin Mints in my box at work. Yeah, I ordered them, but that was before the bag of reese's eggs! My excuse about the eggs? My son is allergic to peanuts so I HAD to get rid of them (they came in a massive bag of mixed candy I bought for birthday treat bags...) Yeah, I'm not even fooling myself.

You are doing so well, overall! I still haven't done a weigh-in because I KNOW what I weigh, and I want to be a few pounds lighter before I officially start to lose weight... ummm, yeah, that makes no logical sense, but I just don't want to see that number written down anywhere! No major gym time yet, either, but it is coming... I'm gearing up for all this. No one wants to be around me much these days, though, since I'm eating enough fiber to fill up an elephant.

All shall be well and all manner of thing shall be well. The Kashi cilantro lime shrimp frozen meal I just had is really pretty good, and only 4 points... not too bad! Now if I can just avoid those damn mints....

The new layout looks great! Maggie is adorable!

Do you have cable? If so, on TLC they have a show running called "I Can Make You Thin" It has been LIFE CHANGING for me, and it's not a diet, it's easy. I've lost 8lbs in the three weeks! You can still eat out and eat what you want!

I know, I sound like an infomercial!!

You can do it Jenny! I struggle so much too, darnit I just love food! LOL! I've been a yo-yo dieter for so many years, but I'm trying to be pretty determined about it lately. I'm really PISSED they are building a Taco Bell down my street, LOL, that will not help. :)

Hope you are good. :)
