Writer's Block

After blogging every day for more than 20 days, I've come tonight with a blank mind. I've got nothing tonight. Sorry, friends. Help me out--tell me something about yourself.

What? Does everyone just come here, read and not comment?

What's up with that?

I'm a left handed Aquarius. And so is my daughter. I love that.

You and I have something in common right now that I want to email you about but I haven't because I'm very private in this particular arena of my life. But I'm sure I will do it.

I think.

I don't eat fish. Not even towers of tuna.

I've never been to Texas. or Paris. or Canada.

Are you tired of hearing about me, yet?

oh and much to Tracey's dismay, I can't swim.

That stinks you have writer's block. I take it Maggie hasn't said anything recently? LOL

5. I feel like I know you and your family so well!

6. I love all that you have done in the fight against cancer and I hope some day the world can beat this evil thing for good!

7. I'm only 5 feet tall and I need to lose 100 pounds.

8. I've been to Texas, but only in the airports..LOL

9. I love heavy metal/rock music and I have 3 tattoos, and 9 earrings...

Hello!

I, too, have been reading for years but have never commented (sorry). If you lived in Missouri (or I in Texas) I'd love to work for HFC and have a drink with the Posse.

-I have a 3 yr old daughter whoI think looks a little like Maggie (although my little muffin is chunkier!)...I think it's the hair

-I left a low paying job I loved at a Children's Hospital to take a high paying job I can tolerate. One day I hope to go back...but the current economic climate makes it difficult to think about

-To quell your baby fever (maybe)...I have a 3 month old son who has to be the world's worst sleeper. He's still up every two-three hours. But he is cute.

-I LOVE Mexican food...the salt, the spice, the tequila.

It's nice to finally "meet" you.

Whelp -- you have writers block and I have midnight brain, so if I don't make sense, sorry... I am a nurse and just got home from work. I actually stumbled upon Allie's story soon after her diagnosis when I was working on a pediatric onc floor in Pittsburgh, now I am doing orthopedics and I miss the kids so much! You gave me a ton of insight into the parents I was working with. ((THANKS))

Things about me:
Am also left handed... but a Capricorn.

I'm 31, we got married in May and are trying to get pregnant. Can totally relate to your weight post. I actually did the "holy crap, I am friggin fat should I wait and loose wt first" thing... but I decided that while getting started to do wt watcher and start at the gym, have lost about 10 lbs....

I have really loved following Jen's adoption journey b/c I am a birth mom who placed my son for adoption when I was 17. Have loved hearing about adoption from the new parents side. Adoption was a blessing in my life. My son and his family are incredible.

In 2003 I skipped Christmas. Couldn't take it. No decorations, no Christmas cards... left the snow and went to Florida with my brother…. And it was the best!

I have a tendency to sing A LOT, not that I'm very good.. I just like to make up my own corny tunes or find real songs that go with conversations.

LOVE LOVE LOVE the book store! It smells so good and i could just sit there all day and peruse.

It has taken me 3 times to try and get this comment published b/c I can’t remember my password.

OK --- enough blabbing.
Have a great day!

I have a 4 1/2yr old-Ella and a 2 1/2 yr old Evan. I lost two pregnancies this past year-but I am 29wks pregnant right now-and so hopeful!

Hi!

I have been following your story since Allie. Because of you, I am now addicted to reading blogs and I think my workplace productivity has greatly decreased!! lol

* I've lived in Buffalo, NY my whole life and I can't imagine living anywhere else. The snow doesn't really bother me either.

* I've dated my boyfriend for 5 years. I've completely given up on ever seeing a ring, but his mom keeps champagne on ice at all times "just in case".

* I was adopted when I was a baby and reading about your friend Jen's journey has made me so interested. I feel so lucky to have my parents and can't imagine life without them. I hope to have biological children, as well as adopt a baby, as well.

* I will try any food once. Frog legs, chicken feet, and escargot were a one time thing. Buffalo and elk can be a more permanent staple.

* I am an awful impulse shopper. And the worse offenses happen at Target. I can't walk out of that place without spending at least $100.

Hope you have a great weekend! :)

Hi Jenny!

I have followed your blog since BBC when Allie was diagnosed. I've commented a few times on both blogs.

Yours was the first "blog" I ever followed. I have about 30 I visit on a regular basis.

I'm grieving the loss of my husband in August. He fell off our deck, hit his head and died of a brain injury. He was 40 and the love of my life. We would have been married 10 years in October. I miss him every second of every day.

I have 2 beautiful girls - Shannon (8) & Ashley (4). They miss their daddy so much. I am so thankful that I have them.

I have a crazy German Shepherd named Harley. She just turned 1. I love all the posts about Brandy.

I don't eat seafood of any kind, both my girls L.O.V.E. it. I gag at the smell of it, but I take them to Red Lobster to feast. mommy love.

I left all my friends in family in Florida and moved to Pennsylvania when I met my husband to be with him. I love it here so much now that I have no plans to move back.

I devoured the Twilight Series. I loved all 4 books. I want to see the movies SO BAD. (Team Edward)

I admire your courage, your strength and openess of your family life. I feel like we would be friends in real life.

Nice to "meet" you!
Debbie

Something about myself? Geez I'm kinda boring. Ok, my fave color is yellow. I *heart* Vera Bradley purses and my accessories must match the purse (OCD? a bit). I love to read and stay up late doing so. I have 4 papers due for grad school next week and am only 1/3 of the way done. Oh! And I have 2 gorgeous girlyz who sometimes drive me ever so slightly nuts.

Could you pretty please blog about the Twilight Saga? What did you think of them and your opinions etc? It is Twilight day!! YAYYY!! I'm craving someone to discuss the books with. All of my friends are still reading and their only doing that because I'm forcing them to. Losers! LOL

Hi Jenny,

I love your blog and check it religiously. It's like checking in on a friend-though we've never met. Let's see: We are in Plano, we have a 2 year old and a 2 week old, I'm battling the pre AND post baby bulge too. I am trying to walk everyday...if you want a nearby walking buddy with slower, shorter strides-I'm your gal! What else: the T-Bone moniker is one of the many nicknames names for our 2 year old beauty.

Hello Scott Family!!

My name is Michelle and I have also followed your story since you posted on Babycenter about your precious Allie being diagnosed with "Kemia".

You inspired me to start blogging also, although I didn't start till the end of last year. I do find it a great way to keep friends and family up to date on what is going on in my and my sons life.

Speaking of my son. I have one wonderful son who just started kindergarten. He turned 6 on November 1st. He is the light of my life. Whithout him I don't know where I would be. He is what held me together through a rough divorce this past year. His name is Carter!

I work 2 jobs to try to make ends meet. I work full time at an insurance company in the admin dept. I also work part time at a private ambulance company as an EMT.

I love reading your blog and check it almost daily. I don't think I have missed a single post. ;-) I love to hear about your precious Maggie... My late grandmothers name was Maggie.

I could ramble on forever, but I will end for now.

Hi Jenny,
I've been reading for a number of years now. I was pregnant with my daughter when I found your 'Scott Household' blog, and Allie touched my heart immediately.
Some random stuff about me:
- tomorrow is my 5-year wedding anniversary
- I'm a childhood cancer survivor
- I volunteer at my local Ronald McDonald House as well as a local charity that grants wishes to children with life threatening illnesses (like Make-a-Wish). If I lived closer I'd love to volunteer for you too!
- this is my LAST WEEK working full time. Next week I start working only 3 days/week and I'm sooo happy about it!
- I am hoping for the Twilight Trilogy for Christmas. Even though it doesn't sound like my typical kind of book, I can't resist the hype.
- I'm a total band-wagon-jumper-on-er
- I read all your friends' blogs and wish my own 'posse' was as close as yours
- I love Hagen Daz Caramel Cone Explosion ice cream nearly as much as anything else in the world
- I love summer and the beach, but live in cold, snowy Canada.

Have a great weekend!

Hi Jenny,
Like so many others here I've been reading your blogs since Allie became sick. Your's was the first blog I ever became attached to. Because of your journey and the things you've shared along the way I've grown as a wife, mother, and friend. :)

I work full time for our state government. I have two children a dd 6 and ds 2. My husband is a recovering alcoholic with OCD and a anxiety disorder. We've been married 8 years and our marriage is finally 'good' after beginning marriage counseling.

Hi Jenny,

I'm Vickie, and I've commented here a few times. Some random facts about me -

I've been reading your blog since mid-2004. I check it every day.

I'm 30, and if my memory is correct, you and I were born on the same day - 24 Jan 1978 right? I remember you posting about your birthday.

I've been married for 10 yrs to Richard. He's a lawyer, and has a small law firm here. He's a great guy.

We have two children - Gabriella is 8, Sophia is nearly 5. Sophia's very excited about starting school soon.

I'm getting a job once Sophia starts school. I'm excited about that.

I sympathize on the writer's block - I often have no thoughts in my head, therefore nothing to blog about at all some days. My life just isn't that exciting most of the time!

I live in New Zealand.

Hi Jenny!

It's kind of weird you don't know me since I feel like I know you so well. (and I wish I lived closer so I could hang out with you and the posse ;) )

I "met" you thru the ivillage pregnancy boards. You know a mother of one of the mom's I am friends with. If that makes sense.

I was just getting involved in that board and was looking thru past posts when I kept seeing Allie, Allie, Allie.. I started looking at the Scott Household Blog at 11:00pm and read until 3:30AM. I don't think I have ever cried so hard. I ended up getting my then 2 year old out of bed and sleeping with her in my arms on the couch.

It was the night before Easter Sunday and we ended up skipping church because I was so tired from reading all night. To this day, I don't think my husband understood why we didn't go to church. LOL

Then later on this same board, one of our mom's had a little boy named Drew born with CDH. Jana was friend's with Jenn Miller so I knew of her thru Audrey. Then later when reading your blog I see you know her too! Isn't that funny!

I am married to the greatest guy. We have two girls Kinzley Faith (5) and Kennacie Grace or Sassy as we call her (2 1/2) She reminds me sooo much of Maggie!

I stay home with them and watch 4 other kids. Some days I have a 5,4,3, two 2 year olds and a 8 month old. I also work at the country club a couple nights a month.

I also run a home business were I make photo jewelry. I actually just realized I originally started doing this because of the picture necklace you wear of Allie (and now Maggie) I wanted one like it and was too cheap ;) Hummm I never realized that before! Anyways I LOVE making jewelry and it allows me to stay home with our girls.

I am so glad you continued to write after Allie's passed away. I was soooo glad to hear when Maggie was born and am excited you are thinking about another baby. I was sure we were done and after hearing my husband is second guessing it, I am too!!! YIKES!

Keep us the weight loss. I lost 40 pounds after my youngest daughter. Once you get in a routine it's not so bad, it's just hard to start..

One last thing.. I have passed out in the past due to blood. But after reading Allie's story have not only donated once but twice. Both times I have though if poor Allie had to go thru this I surely can. And I didn't pass out! Which reminds me I need to donate again.

What Allie accomlished in her short life is amazing. I only hope to touch as many people as she did. Thanks for sharing her with us.
